Suspended Nyasa Big Bullets general secretary (GS) Kelvin Moyo has said although the club claims to have suspended him, in as far as he is concerned, he was ‘informally’ dismissed.

The beleaguered People’s Team GS was responding to a question on whether he will cooperate on the issue of his disciplinary case that led to his suspension.

“That [my suspension] was mere football politics. It was just a ‘polite’ way of dismissing me.

“Of course, they are claiming that I did not follow proper procedures regarding the concerns they raised, but neither did they,” said Moyo.

However, Bullets board of trustees chairperson James Busilley said they will summon  Moyo on the matter.

He said: “He will be given a chance to be heard because it was already agreed that he should be summoned for a disciplinary hearing, but our concern is that it has attracted so much attention when the focus is supposed to be on our [TNM Super League] title defence campaign.

“At the end of the day, it is also the image of the club that is being tainted because of the sensitive match-fixing allegations.”

But Moyo insisted that if they are to summon him “then it should be under my terms.

“Otherwise, as I said, I will pursue this issue in the way I deem appropriate.”

Bullets main supporters committee chairperson Stone Mwamadi has since urged the concerned parties to sort out the issue amicably.

“The GS is like the CEO [chief executive officer] of the club and if he did something wrong, the best way was to call him and get to the bottom of the issue,” he said.

Super League of Malawi (Sulom) general secretary Williams Banda yesterday told MBC Radio 2FM that they will intervene on the matter and, if necessary, institute investigations.

Bullets suspended Moyo last Friday for copying internal ‘sensitive’ correspondence to the media in which he implicated one of the trustees in match-fixing allegations.

“It is indeed surprising that amid the fact that you are holding a very esteemed position in the club, you would have displayed absolute maturity by following the right procedures in raising up any of the alleged matters for a possible solution,” reads part of the suspension letter co-signed by Busilley and club chairperson Noel Lipipa. n
